The best way to learn is to watch a game being played.
The Players:
Mr. Rock - A solid, defense first kind of player.
Mr. Scissors - Sharp and aggressive.
Mr. Paper - Loves combos and strategy. (Sorry, couldn't think of a good pun.)
A Wanderlo - Unlike most herd creatures, totally random.
All the cards are shuffled and placed in the center of the table.
A Wanderlo :
Draws - i win!!!
Plays - i win!!!
Response - everyone passes because they have no cards to play and the card goes into effect.
A Wanderlo's Card - i win!!!
A Wanderlo wins.
"I win! What a great game!"
Ok, let's try that again.
All the cards are shuffled and placed in the center of the table.
Mr. Scissors:
Draws - nope.
Passes.
"I'm done, for now..."
Mr. Paper:
Draws - i'm gonna draw a card.
Plays - i'm gonna draw a card.
Response - everyone passes, the card goes into effect and is discarded.
Mr. Paper's Card - i'm gonna draw a card.
Draws - i'm gonna steal a card.
Plays - i'm gonna steal a card.
Response - A Wanderlo and Mr. Rock have to pass because they have no cards. Mr. Scissors puts his nope. on top of I'm gonna steal a card. nope. ends the response round and all cards go into effect and are discarded.
Mr. Paper's Card - nope. So nothing happens.
Passes.
"...but I made you use your nope. It was worth the cost."
A Wanderlo:
Draws - no you don't, i do.
Passes.
"Done."
Mr. Rock:
Draws - me too!!!
Passes.
"ok."
Mr. Scissors:
Draws - and...
Passes.
"I'm done."
Mr. Paper:
Draws - wait! It's my turn.
Passes.
"excellent, you may proceed."
A Wanderlo:
Draws - I win!!!
Passes.
"Hmmm... Pass."
Mr. Rock:
Draws - I win!
Passes.
"There sure are a lot of cards out now. Done."
Mr. Scissors:
Draws - i'm gonna draw a card.
Plays - i'm gonna draw a card.
Response - everyone passes and the card goes into effect and is then discarded.
Mr. Scissors's Card - i'm gonna draw a card.
Draws - you lose!
Passes.
"all done."
Mr. Paper:
Draws - no you don't, i do!
Plays - wait! it's my turn.
There is no response to this card so it goes into effect and is discarded.
Mr. Paper's Card - wait! it's my turn.
Starts a new turn by Drawing - Me too!
Passes.
"Perfect. You may take your turn."
A Wanderlo:
Draws - nothing*
Passes.
"Like that ever happens."
Mr. Rock:
Draws - no you don't i do.
Plays - i win!
and Plays - me too!!! Copying his own i win!
Response -
Mr. Scissors Plays - and...
and Plays - you lose! On top of Mr. Rock's me too!!!
This starts a new response round starting with Mr. Paper -
Mr. Paper Plays - me too! Copying Mr. Rock's i win!

A Wanderlo Plays - i win!!!
Yet another new response round -
Mr. Rock Plays - no you don't, i do and takes Mr. Paper's me too! (Which is a win) and puts it on his just played no you don't, I do.
Another Response -
Mr. Scissors - Passes.
Mr. Paper Plays - no you don't i do and takes his old me too! From Mr. Rock's cards and puts it on top of his no you don't I do.
Response round -
A Wanderlo plays - no you don't I do on Mr. Paper's me too! and places it on this card.
Response -
Mr. Rock. - Passes
Mr. Scissors - Passes
Mr. Paper - Passes. So all cards go into effect.
A Wanderlo's Cards - I win!!! and me too! So he wins twice. "I win twice! What a great game."
Mr. Rock's Cards - I win! and you lose! Which cancels each other out. "So close!"
Mr. Scissors' Cards - and... Which does nothing. "Ack!."
Mr. Paper's Cards - No cards. "I demand a rematch!" everyone else "Let's play!"
A Wanderlo wins again with two wins in a single game.
If they were playing the Extended Play version, A Wanderlo would take 2 tokens. Mr. Rock would take a token but then have to put one back.
